Production Manager

THE BACKGROUND
Our client is one of the world’s leading beverage can suppliers and are the only beverage can maker with a company-owned technical and manufacturing facility devoted to working with customers to design, specify and create a beverage can.
The company are business partner to some of the worl’s most famous and successful consumer brands as well as young, entrepreneurial star-ups.
With an annual turnover of about 4,6 Billion £, the group serves customers across 23 countries ,has over 30 can plants and employs circa 24.000 people worldwide.
Our client is now looking for Plant Manager for Italian plant located in Chieti area.

NATURE AND SCOPE
The Production Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager.
He/She is responsible to plant, direct and manage the manufacturing process, providing the focus and leadership which will build and develop an effective team, which will maintain maximum safety, environmental, quality and production standards.
He/She is responsible for complying with all statutory regulations.

THE POSITION
Principle Activities

  • Responsible for the production process as a whole. Develop and realize daily production plans.
  • Responsible for the personnel distribution in order to ensure the process integrity.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of the production function.
  • Contribute to the company progress and team work improvement.
  • Responsible for maintaining process quality in accordance with operations process and quality standards.
  • Responsibility for the personnel, administrative function.
  • Direct and assist with developmental or experimental production activities.
  • Have knowledge about and apply principals of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.
  • Support and develop relations with customers, taking part in negotiations and regular meetings.
  • Establish and implement improvements for safety, quality, and cost reduction programs.
  • Estimate and prepare propositions for production budget.
  • Establish and maintain safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations. Responsibility for creation, control and following up safety system.
  • Establish and maintain an employee relations climate of trust and confidence that will discourage third party interference.
  • Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and working instructions for the area of responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, the company and the community.
  • Maintain the professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions.
  • Recognize waste streams and minimizes waste generation, through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation. Understands and practices proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes.

THE CANDIDATE.
Competencies & Skills

  • High technical education.
  • Degree in Engineering/Technical discipline
  • Italian mother tongue.
  • Fluent in English
  • Working knowledge of production principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted managerial practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the following areas: Business principles, legal practices, customer needs and expectations.
  • Experience for 4 years minimum in the production.
  • A manufacturing background in a high speed, high volume continuous process
  • Successful track record in man management in combination with proven record of task achievement
  • Problem solving & total quality skills
  • Experience in handling industrial relations issues
  • Good understanding of modern lean manufacture technique - SMED, Kaizen 5S, Kanban, Structured
  • Problem Solving, TPM/OEE, SPC, 6 Sigma etc;
  • preferably Black Belt status
  • Understanding & experience of working to External
  • Quality/Environmental Standards i.e. ISO 9001:2000/ 14001
  • A management style heavily orientated to training and coaching
  • Good computer skills – ability to manage via computerised data

Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will include a base salary, bonus, laptop, life/accident insurance. The candidate will be expected to begin this job as soon as possible.
